About The OrganizationMy husband Tom and I owned a small wine store in Jacksonville, FL until we closed our doors the end of June of 2007 when a large chain wine store opened literally around the corner from us and put us out of business. (Think "You've Got Mail" only with wine instead of books, and I didn't fall in love with our competitor.) I have been semi retired and relaxing since then, but recently grew restless with all the free time. This lead to the opening of Wine Diva Designs, but in many ways, I still wasn't satisfied. My mother had succumbed to cancer in January of 2004 and I wanted to do something in her memory. After being commissioned by Regretsy to make some chemo caps for The Hat Box Foundation, I realized this was something I wanted to do full time. I also wanted to give the cancer patients a choice in the hats they'll receive. So ConnieCaps was born, named after my mom. I hope that her memory will live on in my charity, and in the hats that everyone receives from us. |
