About The Organization
My husband Tom and I owned a small wine store in Jacksonville, FL until we closed our doors the end of June of 2007 when a large chain wine store opened literally around the corner from us and put us out of business. (Think "You've Got Mail" only with wine instead of books, and I didn't fall in love with our competitor.) I have been semi retired and relaxing since then, but recently grew restless with all the free time. This lead to the opening of Wine Diva Designs, but in many ways, I still wasn't satisfied.
My mother, Connie, had succumbed to cancer in January of 2004 and I wanted to do something in her memory. After being commissioned by Regretsy to make some chemo caps for The Hat Box Foundation, I realized this was something I wanted to do full time. I also wanted to give the cancer patients a choice in the hats they'll receive.
So ConnieCaps was born out of my love for my late mother, and a desire to bring beauty and warmth to the lives of people who are fighting the difficult battle against cancer. Here at ConnieCaps, we provide cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy with beautiful, stylish, and hand-crafted hats free of charge. All of our hats are made from quality materials hand-knit by myself and volunteer knitters. Please get in touch with us if you are currently in treatment for cancer, and would like a hat. We would love to make your day a little better with a hat that is as special as you are.
We are a 501(c)(3) corporation, which means your donations are tax deductible. If you'd like to donate, please go look at our donation page. We have multiple ways to donate, and only a small amount helps keep us running. If you would like to volunteer to knit, or have further questions about hats or donations, feel free to contact me!
